Celebrating 25 years of Red Balloon

25th Anniversary

It’s our 25th anniversary! So we’ve an exciting timetable of activities ahead to share with you. There’s a fundraising Plog for Red Balloon Day and a Red Balloon Ride, as well as commemorative occasions such as the burying of time capsules.

Carrie kicks things off below by sharing her memories of what spurred her to set up Red Balloon back in 1996. And alumni student, Daniel, also takes a look back and remembers his time with Red Balloon and where his life has taken him since.

And while this anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to reflect, we’re also looking to the future. So we’ve launched our Future Fund appeal to help ensure we’re around for another 25 years, so the next generation of children who need us can turn their lives around after bullying and trauma.

We do hope you’ll join in the celebrations, whether its joining in our fun fundraising efforts or making a donation.

  • Red Balloon Ride

    Red Balloon Ride

To mark our 25th we’re holding a big Red Balloon Ride in June! Will you join us?

    • We’re riding 25,000 miles in total – just choose how many of these miles you want to ride.
    • We’re hoping to raise £25,000 altogether – you choose your own target.
    • We’re one awesome community aiming toward one shared goal – cycling 25,000 miles to raise £25,000 in June

You choose when, where, and how you cycle, and try to go as far as possible during the month of June.

Whether you’re new to cycling, an enthusiastic novice, or an expert on two wheels, join us and make the challenge your own. Find out more here.

  • Plog for Red Balloon Day

To mark our 25th we’re holding a Plog for Red Balloon Day on Thursday 6 May! *

Plogging is the Swedish craze that’s combining outdoor exercise with picking up rubbish – and it’s catching on around the globe.

Will you join us in creating a Red Balloon plogging movement? You can:

    • help save the environment
    • get fit and meet up with friends, family or colleagues (as restrictions allow), and
    • raise funds for Red Balloon students, all at the same time!

How you plog is up to you. You could jog while collecting rubbish, or you can walk, cycle, skate or any other outdoor activity you like. We’ll give you all the hints and tips you need in our participants’ pack. Find out more here.

*If you can’t make 6 May, then choose a date which best suits you.
